CUPE Local 53 acknowledges that the Town of Whitby is situated on the Lands of the Great Mississauga Nations who are signatories to the Williams Treaty. These communities include the Mississaugas of Scugog Island, First Nations of Alderville, Beausoleil, Curve Lake, Hiawatha, Chippewas of Georgina Island, and Rama.
The Whitby Public Library acknowledges that we are on the Treaty & Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.
The Township of Uxbridge is situated on the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Mississauga, and Chippewa (Anishinaabe) people, acknowledging that these lands are covered under the Williams Treaties and are home to many Indigenous communities.
